THE EXPERIENCE
Freshies are a beautiful mix of documentary storytelling images and portraits of your new baby along with all the tiny little details. Siblings are welcome to be included too. They are a relatively quick session although if time is needed to settle bub or have a quick feed, this is absolutely fine. These sessions are very much a baby and mama led and priority is given to everyone being as comfortable as possible.

Session Day
Session day! Freshies can be of just baby, all of you or even just your arms and hands in with your newborn if you’re not up to it. If you would like to participate, we’ll make sure you have baby and capture some beautiful cuddle time. If you want photos of just baby, we’ll use the crib for portraits and photos of bubs feet and hands etc.
Choose your collection
Around 2 weeks after your session you’ll receive a private online gallery to view your images.
Choose your favorites and visit the shop to purchase your chosen collection along with all the gorgeous wall art and albums.

It’s a short photography session held in hospital one or two days after your baby arrives. It’s a time to capture the freshness of those first days meeting and getting to know your baby. All the beautiful details from flaky skin on their fingers, curled up toes from being so squished in the belly and the petiteness of a newborn is all captured in a way that not only feels real and raw but also savours the emotion of this incredibly special time in your lives.

The Freshie hospital session photos are about capturing the raw newness of your baby’s first hours. Showing their size, peely skin etc are all captured with a more documentary feel to the images. It’s a time that cannot be repeated and often when I send the gallery (only a week or two later), parents tell me they can’t believe how much their baby has changed already. They are such different sessions, I recommend you have a look through the portfolio to help you decide whether to book one or both sessions.
On a practical note, Freshies take less time, there’s no major skin editing as we want to preserve that newness in the images. There’s a lot less control of the lighting, colours and distractions in hospital.
Newborn Sessions are more polished, more controlled, more skin editing and more time to remove distractions.

The session itself is currently on special for $50 (usually $150). All families who have a Fresh 48 session during their hospital stay, will receive a low resolution sneak peek from their session. All high resolution images, prints and wall art are to be purchased separately.

Absolutely! I love to work with Homebirthing families. If you’re out of the Greater Geelong area, there may be a travel fee.

Bella Arte Photography will provide a selection of images from the session in an online password protected gallery.

Visit the ONLINE SHOP to purchase a collection. Collections are available with 10, 15 or 20 images.
The purchased images will be edited, printed, packaged and delivered to your home within 3 weeks from image selection.
Additional prints and wall art will be available for purchase.

Book Your Freshie Session
Your session will be tentatively scheduled on your due date. Once your baby has arrived, let us know and we’ll change it to the next available day or two.
Sessions run for approximately 15-30 mins however if you book in advance, I’ll do my best to organise you more time.
Siblings are welcome subject to the current hospital visiting policies.
A little bit about Emma + Bella Arte photography
In-hospital imagery has been a service provided since our establishment and we are proud to have been partnered with EPWORTH GEELONG until the recent maternity ward closure.
In-hospital and at home Fresh 48 photography sessions are available to all Geelong maternity patients who pre-book. Families with babies in special care are also able to have a session once you are rooming in together or where permission is granted by their care provider.
Bookings for fresh 48 can be made anytime during your pregnancy, however if you leave it too late, you may miss out.
Bookings taken during your stay will be scheduled on the next available morning if possible, however every effort will be made to accommodate the needs of families wishing to have photos taken on the same day as speaking to the photographer.
