session preparation
Wardrobe.
Most importantly, please wear what you love and feel comfortable in. I want you to be yourselves and show your personalities. The following tips are a general guide to help you prepare for your session.
Steer away from black, neons and any distracting writing.
Don’t be afraid of patterns and color as they can really add to your images. Choose muted tones like pastels and neutrals. This will prevent crazy color cast on your skin.
Adding textures to your home and outfits will absolutely add to your final images.
Home Lifestyle Session Preparation.
You really don’t need to worry too much about preparing your home. Quite often the session will take place in a couple of key areas in the home like the nursery and in front of a big window if you have one. If you’re feeling up to it, a little decluttering of your bedside table and the nursery dresser is helpful if you’d like to use those spaces.
Fresh flowers, plants and textured throws add a special touch to the home.
Hair + Makeup.
Hair and makeup services are available as an optional addition to your session. You may arrange these independently, or I would be happy to make the arrangements on your behalf. This can be a wonderful way to treat yourself, especially post-baby. Please keep in mind you’ll need 1–2 hours prior to your session for these services. Payment is made directly to the HMUA.
