• The studio session is currently on special for $50 (usually $150). Hospital sessions are complimentary with a booking. All families who have a Session with Bella Arte Photography, will receive a low resolution sneak peek from their session. All high resolution images, collections, prints and wall art are to be purchased separately through the online SHOP. Collections range from $300-$1450.

It’s a short photography session held in hospital or the Belmont studio one or two days after your baby arrives. It’s a time to capture the freshness of those first days meeting and getting to know your baby. All the beautiful details from flaky skin, their tiny fingers, curled up toes from being so squished in the belly and the petiteness of a newborn is all captured in a way that not only feels real and raw but also savours the emotion of this incredibly special time in your lives.

The Freshie session photos are about capturing the raw newness of your baby’s first days after arriving. Showing their size, peeling skin etc are all captured with a more documentary feel to the images. It’s a time that cannot be repeated and often when I send the gallery (only a week or two later), parents tell me they can’t believe how much their baby has changed already.

In comparison to a typical Newborn Session, Freshies take less time and there’s no major skin editing as we want to preserve that ‘freshness’ in the images. There’s a lot less control of the lighting, colours and distractions in hospitalalso.

Newborn Sessions tend to take longer because they are a more polished, more controlled session which is necessary when posing a baby. There is usually more skin editing and more time to remove distractions during the session and in post production.

This is a common story these days however there is no need to worry. You are welcome to have a STUDIO FRESHIE session instead.

Absolutely! You’re welcome to come into the Belmont studio when you’re ready or I can come to you. I love to work with Homebirthing families. If you’re out of the Greater Geelong area, there may be a travel fee.

Bella Arte Photography will provide a selection of images from the session in an online password protected gallery.  

1. Choose your favourite images. 

2. Visit the ONLINE SHOP to purchase a collection. Collections are available with 10, 15 or 20 images.

3. The purchased images will be edited, printed, packaged and delivered to your home within 3 weeks from image selection.

Additional prints and wall art will be available for purchase.

Firstly, make sure you feel comfortable!

Avoid wearing colors that will reflect on your baby or each other. Neons and colors like red, orange and green if they are too bright will reflect off the skin of others around you. These colors are still great for sessions, however choose a muted version of them. The other thing to consider is that you want your faces, eyes, smiles and connections to all to be the main focus of your images when you look at them later. If you wear tshirts with huge writing or distracting imagery, this will take your focus first before anything else.

Pastels, neutrals and autum colors all work very well. Try to avoid black also as it shows up A LOT of fluff, hair and can often blend too much in shadows.
